Throughout the United States, hundreds of small independent theater groups and stage companies aspire to find and express truth through drama. While not all local theater productions live up to the expectations of a Lincoln Center audience, a large number would impress even the most sophisticated theater goers. Cities as diverse as Atlanta, Kansas City, San Francisco and Duluth harbor many dedicated actors, directors and producers who care about keeping the art of stage-acting alive. Atlanta alone has 17 stage companies and theater groups, including Theater Gael, an inter-Celtic arts organization dedicated to preserving and fostering the cultural traditions of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The following is a web site with information on local theater groups near you: American Association of Community Theaters: www.aact.org/aactmap.html.
